Natural Remedies
In medicine, natural remedies are methods that attempt to maintain or restore health through the use of natural substances.
There are traditional natural remedies such as exercise therapy, hydrotherapy, physical therapy, order therapy, or herbal medicine, and non-traditional natural remedies such as homeopathy, acupuncture, and kinesiology.
Our practice offers additional therapy methods that are referred to as ‘alternative healing methods’ rather than ‘natural remedies’. They are not generally recognized by health insurance providers as effective therapy methods and therefore not all costs are reimbursed.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture takes into account the relationships between nature and the sick person. The goal of acupuncture treatment is to balance the organism, restore harmony between the mind and body with its environment, and make it more resilient to harmful influences.
In health, the life energy (which the Chinese call “Qi”) flows in harmony, the functions of the individual organs are strong and undisturbed. In acupuncture, diseases are due to a disturbance in the flow of life energy. There may be a weakness or excess of life forces. A blockage in the flow of life energy can also cause pain or other health problems and illnesses.
Life energy flows in harmony with its Yin and Yang components on pathways called meridians. The body receives this life energy through food and breathing, among other things.
Yin and Yang are the polar forces in acupuncture. Our entire world, including our organism, can be divided into these two principles. Yin, for example, represents the feminine, passive principle, and Yang the masculine, active principle. With respect to life energy, an excess (hyperfunction) or deficiency (hypofunction) of life force can occur. An imbalance in life energy leads to illness in the long term. After diagnosing this disharmony, a balance between these opposing poles is restored and disturbances in the organism are eliminated by needling specific acupuncture points on the meridians.
